The 3rd Quezon City Science High School Alumni League opening day highlights

I am a proud Xientian alumnus, which is why for the third straight year our batch (2000) is joining the third season (together with our friends from batch 2002).

Posting news about the opening day highlights provided by no one else but Mr. Rommel Madayag.

Text taken from the Kisay Basketball League - 3rd Season group page;

Team 2007 returns to the League with a 54 – 42 win over QueSci Varsity. With a balanced scoring by all starters, the 2k7 dribblers have to shake off a 5 – 0 early lead by the Varsity team then took command of the whole game and never looked back. Unforced errors, low percentage shooting, poor defense and inexperience took its toll on the youngsters.

The second game saw how Team 2003 redeemed itself from its lone tormentor last season, Team 2008. After trailing by as much as 8 points in the 1st quarter the defending champs, led by the relentless defense and transition offense of Edd Lozano (26 pts) and Royann Hernandez (17 points), outlasted the undermanned. Completing the Big-Three of 2k3 is Jacob Manlapaz who scattered 19 points, 11 in the first half. Team 2008 was led by James Chua (22 pts) who made a late rally in the dying minutes of the 4th quarter but to no avail.

Team 2004 proved to be a team to reckon with as it outclassed Team 2k5-2k6, 64 – 45. Leading all the way, the tandem of Jose Gemora (16 pts, 4/8 3-pts) and Bren Bigcas (15 pts) was too much for Marnex Mijares – led team 2k5-2k6.

Special Note: Vincent Garcia of Team 2008 will be the first player to be meted a 1-game suspension for incurring an unsportsmanlike foul on Edd Karl Lozano in a fast break play during the 2nd game action. He won’t be allowed to play on July 7, 2012 in their match against team 2k7.

I will be posting coverage of the games whether done by myself, Mr. Madayag or some other Xientian alumnus.

Good luck and may the season be injury free to all the participating teams.

Call Me Maybe (Best Version For Me)

Carly Rae Jepsen's song who has inspired a lot of people all over the world to do their own version/ video of it finally made me search for it on YouTube.

The original version is not bad, but this version is my favorite (and no they're not the Anne-Georgina-Solenn collaboration).

Ateneo Women's Volleyball team for the win!

This inspires me to actually make my own version, good luck with that. LOL

Mark Cuban versus Skip Bayless (Cuban wins of course)

I always thought that Mark Cuban was just a nerd who knew a little about basketball and only cared about spending his money as long as his team is winning.

In the video below, Mark explains how LeBron did not choke in last year's NBA Finals contrary to popular belief. A must watch for learned basketball fans.

I love how he crushed the asshole Skip Bayless on US National TV (and over the Internet) to the delight of all Skip-haters.

Enjoy guys!

Here's a link just in case the video does not pull up.

Old Links

Here are links to my previous attempts at blogging, I might find a few people I am looking for by posting this.

New Blog, New Basketball Season, New Life

I accidentally ran into my old blog again while setting up my new android device. It synced all my google accouts into my gallery therefore discovering pictures of me and my ex-girlfriend around three years ago that were part of my first attempt at blogging (www.lockerroomtalk.blogspot.com).

Now, after almost three years of not doing this, I decided to give it another shot by putting up another blog. Besides I'm currently not doing anything right now (translation: BUM) so I guess I can maintain this and start putting all my opinons about basketball (and life) into good use.

I remember my last post in my previous blog was about my Dallas Mavericks, and this was back in 2009- http://lockerroomtalk.blogspot.com/2009/05/dallas-in-second-roundof-playoffs.html
Now if you are die hard basketball fans I assume you know that Dirk Nowitzki had choked and choked some more after this playoff series which they ended up losing against the then Carmelo Anthony-led Denver Nuggets. It was just last year (2011 NBA season) when the German Moses got the ultimate prize when his Mavs exacted revenge against the Big Three (LBJ, D.Wade and Bosh) led Miami Heat.
And yes, this story is way way old as the news for today is that the same trio of superstars finally won a title together after promising to do so two years ago. Now I'm waiting for what kind of celebration these guys would do and if it can rival their premature celebration upon signing the Big Three.
And starting tomorrow, I am watching and observing intently as to which of the high profile draft picks (Anthony Davis, MKG and Brad Beal) and free agents (Deron Williams, etc.) give new life to whichever team they land on.
In other news, the NCAA is opening tomorrow as well, which means one thing, the UAAP opening is just around the corner. This also excites me as majority of the games will be held in the all-new SM Mall of Asia Arena in Pasay City (Henry Sy better pay me for this). I am hoping for a decent showing by the UP Fighting Maroons and as early as now predict a UAAP final showdown between the Ateneo Blue Eagles and the National University Bulldogs.
Finally, I would like to share a few snapshots from previous basketball events I've been part of. Yes these are all long overdue for posting but I would still love to share this for sentimental reasons.
