As expected, the Hornets pick "The Unibrow" Anthony Davis of Kentucky, a deserving first overall selection, after leading John Cailpari's University of Kentucky Wildcats to the National Championship and winning all major college player of the year awards as well (NCAA Tournament MOP, Wooden, Naismith, AP, etc.).
Things got interesting as the Bobcats picked his teammate Michael Kidd-Gilchrist next as the Bobcats initially wanted to move down the draft for more picks (targetting either Thomas Robinson of Kansas or Harrison Barnes of UNC for the Cavaliers number four pick and more).
Bradley Beal of Florida wound up at three and as John Wall's backcourt running mate at Washington, while Dion Waiters was Cleveland's surprise stretch pick at four (even with T-Rob and Barnes still available).
A very emotional Robinson rounded up the first five picks as he joins DeMarcus Cousins to form an imposing frontline at Sacramento. He cries and hugs sister Jayla Paris before going up the stage to shake David Stern's hand.
Damian Lillard of small conference school Weber State was handed the keys to run the Portand offense when he was picked sixth and Barnes was finally taken by the Warriors at seven. Terrence Ross of Washington was another stretch pick by Toronto at eight and uber-talented but high risk big man Andre Drummond of Connecticut was taken by Detroit at number nine.
NOLA struck gold again after getting the very talented and confident Austin Rivers of Duke at number 10, who is also Boston Celtics coach Doc Rivers' son. They also got Davis' college teammate Darius Miller at the 46th pick in the second round to form a very young and promising nucleus that Hornets coach Monty Williams can work with.
