My Take on the Don Allado Sanctions and the PBA Game Fixing Fiasco

Don Allado and Chito Salud in a press conference announcing his sanctions

I posted my thoughts on the suspension given to Don Allado by PBA Commissioner Chito Salud on Facebook yesterday. I just can't help but pity the dude for what he has to endure for some statements which I think came from what he knows has been happening all over the league after already playing for a handful of teams/ companies.

Below is a screenshot of his tweets that caught the ire of the PBA.

The famous Don Allado tweets

Posted this status yesterday on my Facebook home page:

So Don Allado gets fined 500k and banned for a conference by the PBA. Harsh. Well he shouldn't have said what he said on Twitter, but I pity the dude because he really has a point.

The PBA is just not the same like before when Alvin Patrimonio was lording the paint and my Alaska Milkmen were dominating the league. Ever since the "Fil-Ams" came and big corporations started buying their way into t
he league, it just wasn't the same anymore.

This is the main reason why I don't watch the PBA as passionately as I did before. The PBA has it's own "Mafia" and this game fixing thing has been happening in the league ever since. The PBA draft and the player trades is another example of how the league favors richer teams over the others.

This Allado suspension is BS. The PBA Commissioner should've gven him a lesser penalty. Thank you PBA for giving me more reasons not to watch you anymore.

I just hope NBA training camps and the Summer Leagues starts soon so that I can have better quality basketball to watch.

I just hope Don can move on after this fiasco, he was wrong at many accounts but I feel that the PBA should open their eyes to the valid point he made. He is a very serviceable big man that plays his heart out every game, I believe his emotions got the best of him because he isn't used to losing having played for winning programs in college (DLSU) and the PBA (Alaska and MVP Group) before.
I'm happy that the PBA is gaining ground and getting back it's lost fanbase but I believe that a league that is transparent and treats their member teams equally would be an even better scenario for the league, their teams and more importantly their fans.
Most importantly, it will pave the way for a bigger and better future for Philippine basketball.
